Christopher Wishart
Born in 1975 near Glasgow in West Central Scotland, Chris grew up close to the historically rich site marking the northernmost frontier of the Roman Empire. His formative years were shaped by the socio-political turbulence of the Thatcher era and the global unrest of the Cold War’s final years. Surrounded by a naval ordnance testing facility, an abandoned coal mine, and a Victorian psychiatric institution, these stark and contrasting environments profoundly influenced his creative perspective, fostering a rebellious, unconventional approach to design.
Now based in Basel, Switzerland, Chris began his artistic journey in Glasgow and further honed his craft in Edinburgh, where he earned an honours degree from the School of Visual Communication.
His design philosophy is deeply rooted in the traditions of fine art, which continues to inform and elevate his digital design practice.
Chris’ work often transcends the boundaries between art, design, and social commentary. Through his engagement with public spaces, visual media, and individual consciousness, his creations provoke thought, challenge societal norms, and aspire to make a lasting impact both publicly and personally.
